It does look like I can do that, thanks! However, that still isn't exactly what I need to do, because I am taking a class that includes a unit on Access, and they really want me to use the copy and paste function. In the excercise, you can just select the records, close the database, open the destination database table and hit paste. I have tried it on the computers at school and it works, I think something is wrong with my program. I downloaded all the latest patches for office and still no luck

Transferring records from 1 table to an other is usually
done by creating an insert-query
Can you link the external table (File->external data
link)
-----Original Message----
When I attempt to copy records from a table in one
database to a table in another database I cannot paste.
When I open the table I want to paste into the paste
button is not lit up, and won't become available until I
display the clipboard and highlight the item I want to
paste. Then, I can paste it, but it turns into jibberish
on the table and I have to undo the operation before I can
close the table
