CoolWebSearch victim

I am the lucky receipent of the Hijacker, coutesey of
CoolWebSearch. Spyware software detected the RegEntry &
RegData, but the spyware keep coming back without me
having to connect to the net. Who knows how to
irradicate it for good?
 
I did, indeed. And THANKS! I tried one of the manual
ones as "once bitten....." But, didn't eradicate
about:blank. How did you find these links?

One thing I did install was the MS AntiSpyware, as the
name MS must mean something.

MS probably means Microsoft, one of many companys fighting
against spyware, MS also tries to save browser market, IE
6..........!

Thanks. Tried CWShredder from intermute (dated Feb,
2005) After cleanning, webroot still reports a CWS-
AboutBlank, among others. Any more suggestions?
 
Get HijackThis.exe from
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

Save it (best to save it to a new folder C:\hjt) then Open
it and SCAN and SAVE LOG (note where you save the log) and
send me the HijackThis log as an attachment. You can try
just copying it and pasting it into a reply but I might
not see it. I should be able to identify the problem if
it exists (false positives are often used a sales tactic
see: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-
spyware.htm - very slow loading site - you get a quick
announcement then 15 seconds later the rest of the page
shows up) and tell you how to get rid of it for good.

Thanks - but about:buster is needed as well for the newer stuff. As I
understand it, the author of about:buster is working with Merijn with the
intent of trying to keep up with the spyware authors.
(and I didn't have trouble finding version 4 once I looked for it!)
