Anyone out there have any experience with one of these yet? I am trying to
get my system as quiet a possible, and the PSU seems like a good place to
start. These babies run over $100, so I'd like to hear from anyone who knows
anything about them. TIA.

A very thorough review can be found here:

www.silentpcreview.com/article162-page1.html

The reviewer thought he smelled something burning during testing with
a 250W load but admitted that 250W was higher than the 180W he had
ever measured from actual computer equipment. However, after testing
it with just a computer, it required a long cool-down period before it
could be run again. All this is distrubing but not surprising because
the supply was made fanless mostly through brute force, with very
large heatsinks and extra vents in the case, not by increasing the
efficiency to at least 90%. Still at 80% average efficiency it ranks
among the most efficient ATX supplies.

Unless you're running a light load on the PC, I wouldn't go fanless.

Get a PSU with an adjustable fan or a quiet fan. A fan with a big hole and
chrome grill will be quieter than one where the grill is stamped into the
PSU case.

Any suggestions? I have an Antec Sonata case, which I bought because it was
supposed to be so quiet. While it is a very good case in all other respects,
the PSU is anything but quiet. I can hear the damn thing in the next room!
So, what PSU will let me work in peace?
