I have been messing with the cooling on my system. I have an option to put a
fan in the top of my coolermaster case. Do I want to use it as an intake or
exhaust?

Open to suggestions from the bright minds here :o)

thanks..

The efficacy of top mounted case fans is the subject of some debate. Since
heat rises, it should act as an exhaust. A side fan should be a filtered
intake.

If I can remember correctly I tried it once on my other pc. I thought I had
surprisingly better results using the fan as an intake. Although the exhaust
theory makes much more sense.

Usually, the fan on top should be an exhaust. Try it both ways, as intake
and exhaust. Try not to change anything else. This way, you can judge for
yourself which works best.

.... so long as the CPU temp isn't the only guage, since having the top as
an intake may decrease cooling of lower half of case.

Kept it is an intake. Other parts are fine. Used as an exhaust...the cpu
area plus two other area rise immediately. Guess I will leave it as is. I'm
satisfied..solved my noise issue with slightly reduced temps.

thanks..
