If I can find one(they seem to be scarce for some reason), I want to
build a system around a Core 2 Duo E8400 system. It will not be
overclocked and not used for gaming (video editing, home media, DVD
burning, business apps).

I don't know if the processor comes with a heat sink, but if not, will I
need one, and, if so, anyone have any recommendations that are not the
huge ones with lots of fins (unless they are necessary)?

Thanks
Ken K

Way too many choices!! Anyone have any recos that won't be overkill for
what I need?

Thanks

I have the E8400 cpu.
Just stick with the original heatsink supplied with the cpu.
It will be more than fine for your intended tasks.

I've been replacing the push-pins with one of these on all
my builds because of the way the push-pins flex the board.

I leave the adhesive backing on. Assemble before installing the
motherboard.

I agree, the stock fan is adequate, but has a bit of an annoying sound,
especially if your case has a port hole and is not on the floor.
