temperory cookies. I want the whole list of cookies.

The cookies are stored in this well hidden folder:

C:\Users\<userprofile>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies

You can delete individual cookies here, or use a dedicated cleanup tool like
CCleaner, some security programs also offer a cleanup feature, check out
yours.

In addition, I find a lot of my cookies (most of them in fact) in a
subfolder within the above location:

C:\Users\<userprofile>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low

To see this folder, one has to set Folder Options to show hidden and system
files.

Another tool I use to quickly find my cookies is Karen's Cookie Viewer,
found at http://www.karenware.com/powertools/powertools.asp

Thanks for the correction, "On Request".

Btw, I forgot to mention that other browsers than IE store cookies in their
own folders, and may have cookie managers of their own such as Firefox (in
Tools > Settings). If you use multiple browsers, a cleanup utility is the
speediest way to deal with all the cookies stored in different locations.

This agrees with the tutorial at
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/60641-cookies.html

However, I am using Ultimate with IE7 and after a thorough search of my
computer (c:\ including non-indexed hidden and system files) I found no
system folders called "Cookies". That word only came up in the search as
the title of an email or newsgroup post or as one of my own Favorites. I did
find the list of cookie text files included in
"C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
Files". Since I rarely delete cookie files the list had 811 of them. Any
time I want to see just the cookies, I use IE's delete temporary internet
files dialog and look at that location to find them easily since everything
else is gone. This is how my computer came from the factory about a year
ago except that I have kept it up to date via Windows Update. Any idea what
is going on? My computer is the only Vista computer I have access to so I
have nothing to compare it to.

Cookies is a hidden folder. You need to go into Folder Options and set
the options to "Show hidden files and folders". Also, uncheck "Hide
protected operating system files".

You're right. I had to uncheck the protected files box! Actually, I've been
showing hidden files since Windows 95. However when I unchecked that box in
Vista I suddenly had a couple of desktop.ini files on my desktop which
looked bad to me so I rechecked the box to make them go away. With the box
checked, I found yet another way to find the cookies: type "shell:cookies"
into the search box and Explorer opens showing the folder in the folder pane
and the files in the main window.
