When I first set up my Windows XP Home edition system, I put my name as the
name of the system. I later found out them, the cookies in my IE actually has
my name attached to them. I decided that is not an good idea. I changed my
system name to a more generic name by changing its value in the registery as
suggested by the newgroup. I also changed my user account name. I deleted all
the cookies too. However, the new cookies still have my old system name
attached to them. Is there anything that I can do?

Don,

Thanks. A few more questions.

I did go and change my account from my name to a more generic name. Why does
it not work.

I try to creat a new user account. I got into trouble. I think because I use
the same name as the systen nsame. I remember I read somewhere that one can
not do that. In any case, the new user account has a brand new setting. How
can one copy the setting from the old account to the new one?

Thanks again.

Hi,
You will have to create a new user account and transfer data and settings.
Keep the old account around for a while in case you have problems with the
new.

Hi,
Again... do not delete the old user acount until you are *sure* that the new
user account contains your data and is working properly.

As Bruce Chambers wrote
The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username)
_cannot_ be renamed, even if the associated user account has been.

Yes, you will have to choose a different name.
