I am using internet explorere 6 under xp pro and trying to log into an
online message board. But for some reason the message board will not let me
log on

I use the same operating system on another computer and everything works
fine at the same security level setting.

When I try to log in and it displays the error message "YOU HAVE COOKIES
DISABLED! YOU MUST TURN THEM ON!"

I've checked and reset all the security settings but still get the error
message.
Any ideas on this one appreciated.

I've been having the same problem as many of the folks here. I wanted to
save my preferences at Google, but as soon as I go to that screen, I'm told
I don't have cookies enabled (windows 2K, IE 6). I did the above, adding
google to the list of always allowed, exited the browser completely, came
back to the site, and it *still* says they are not enabled. Question (in
addition to why it's not sticking) is if the site list is specific to a
given page or does it work for all pages within the domain?

TIA

I don't have the correct answer but believe it applies accross the domain.
I had the same issue and wracked my brains trying to figure it out and
finally tracked my issue back to ZoneAlarm being the culprit. I wint into
ZA and found that I had to add the access to Google there as well.
Good Luck

Turns out I discovered it was Zonealarm about 10 minutes before I read your
message, Ron :) I had the cookies control set too high THERE, possibly due
to a recent ZA upgrade, not sure. I dropped it down a bit, and now the
google site, and presumably others, works fine.I did NOT add access to
google to ZA, tho, FWIW.

Thanks anyway!
