I'm so damn frustrated I could pull my hair out with this. About every 3
months or so I'll go to a forum or site where I'm usually logged in
automatically, and thanks to whatever setting is resetting my cookies, I'll
find ALL of the sites that would normally log me in automatically require me
to do it manually again. I'm so sick of this crap. Is there any way to set
it up so that cookies are NEVER reset until I specify it by deleting cookies
manually? I've looked through the security settings in IE 6 but haven't
found a setting that just jumps out at me as being the obvious one.

It's probably completely simple, but I'm really befuddled at this point.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

The expiration of your cookies is determined by the
sender of the cookie. Go to Tools --> Internet options -
-> on the General tab under Temporary internet files,
click settings, then click "view files" if not already
set change to the "details" view, here you should see a
column for expiration date for the cookies, some of mine
show as late as 2019 and others within 24 hrs of being
set.

Hope this helps.

In addition to what Marc says - You could be "losing your cookies". Cookie
manager programs, inadvertent deletions or whatever. If you go to File on
the Menu bar > Import Export... this wizard will allow you to save the
cookies which are there now. Use this wizard to save/re-save or to import
previously saved cookies back into the browser. This is a good way to keep
the cookie folder clean, since you can periodically delete them all, then
import only the ones you want.
