When I send attached Photos and the recipient opens them and either clicks
thru or Goes to slide show, visual cookies from previously viewed sites are
interspersed. I use Outlook Express, XP and Road Runner and am not very
computer literate. Yhan You

Maxxie, if you're just sending a single picture - that's all that will
be received. If the person you're sending to uses web mail to read your
messages, the images included with mail are downloaded to *their*
Temporary Internet Files - along with *their* cookies. "

The cookies are from sights I have visited not receivers cookies/sites. When
the attachments (photos) are opened 1 photo is shown then 1 cookie, etc. etc.

Maxxie, be sure that what you're sending the person is an image file - a
JPG for example. It you're sending them an imbedded link that grabs the
image from a website to show the image as if it was a part of the email,
then they would get a cookie when their system goes to that url to pull
the image.

There are exploits involving some image files - hidden contents in the
file that will contact websites. However any updated Windows system will
be patched against those exploits.

Thanks Sharon. The files/attachments are normal jpg files from "MY Pictures"
(taken and filed by me). As long as cookies have not been deleted ( thru
normal deletion steps) they attach themselves to email attachments...in fact
I can observe them by opening the attachments after composing, but prior to
sending and there they are!!!

I rarely delete cookies and often send jpg files - I've never seen
cookies fly out with those emails. You said that you're using outlook
express and not webmail so there wouldn't be any funny/weird interaction
between the webmail server's software and your file attachments. This
should be straightforward stuff.

How and when are you checking on cookies? If you're doing this through
the "Attach Files" dialogs, then you would be adding cookies as
attachments even if you didn't mean to.

And that ain't all you can do now. Cookie or whatever it was, I received a
set of pictures from a friend. Did a Picture and Fax slide show. WOW!
Only first picture was one intended; embedded in the "show" were shots of
er, uz, um, triple-x if you get the drift. Only lasted 24 hours though. My
girlfriend would have KILLED me, or at least the computer ((:
