Getting "browser not set to accept cookies" msg; turning privacy level to
"accept all cookies" not working.

Very interesting added symptom is the appearance of all cookies as text
inside the main browser window, suggesting they are not being saved to my
hard drive but are being redirected to my screen.

How to fix this particular bug? Simple answer please, not a shotgun response
of a dozen links.

TIA, Kurt

Disable any firewall or other security packages you have
and retry.

Done, and somehow W98 screwed up the firewall executables in the bargain.
But still I get this text at the top and my computer won't write cookies
where it should, just displays the cookie text at the top of the page.

Specifically, was that Zone Alarm Pro 3.x by any chance?
Others have reported that it doesn't even remove well
(still leaves lingering effects after it has been removed)
so if it was just disabled perhaps it can still have effects too?
There is a rather extensive procedure for finally removing it
documented on the ZoneAlarm support site.

In any case ZAP 3.x is what I was thinking of and just extrapolating
(atypically) into a general case.

You hit the nail on the head. Thanks!
