Questions/advice wanted

1. I want to convert an analog VCR tape to a digital format that can stay on a computer and be watched by folks (sit on a server) - any recommendations?

2. The tape is about a half hour long, any suggestions on how to keep the file size to a minimum

3. I would need this to be viewable from a variety of computers (win 9x/2000), any suggestions on the most compatible format?

Chris,

Maybe you posted to a number of newsgroups.... as this one is the Movie
Maker one, use Movie Maker.

You'll need an analog capture device like a Dazzle 80.... see the Analog
capture section of my website for devices people are using and some comments
about them.

I assume a concern for file size is because you will put it on a server for
online viewing.... save it to about 350 kbps at 320x240 pixel
dimensions..... which will be about 2 MB per minute - or about 60 MB.

win9x/2000 viewing would work with the Windows Media Player of version 7+ or
higher
