I have a print of a couple of other posts which I believe
will help. However, my question is: Does booting from the
XP cd do a full format, or is the original registry from
ME still exist? I want a full wipe as it corrupted and I
want to start from ground zero? Any info would be
appreciated.

Yes, when you boot with the Windows XP CD-ROM you can do a full format which
will wipe everything off your computer. After that the Windows XP install
will start. Windows ME will be gone for good.

Thank you for your rapid reply :-))

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
