something - anyway after i type in convert D: /fs:ntfs
i get asked for the current volume label for drive d

how do i work that out???

thanks

You have a movie on your PC that you are trying to send to your video camera
and you want to reformat your Hard Drive?

1) that doesn't make sense.
2) if you re-format your hard drive you will lose everything on it including
the operating system (O/S). So unless you know how to start from scratch and
load an O/S, you had best not be doing that!

NOTEKY

Double click "My Computer"
Next to your C drive, (or whatever drive it is you want to convert to NTFS)
will be the name of the drive. Mine is "Main Drive"
Could be your last name or whatever. Doesn't matter what it is called., Just
as long as you enter it exactly the same when asked for the current volume
label.

Converting to NTFS from FAT32 will not damage your system at all. I did it 2
weeks ago! You won't lose any data.

I'm not always right,
But I'm never wrong!

actually it makes perfect sense if the drive is currently formatted FAT32
and the video is larger than 4GB since FAT32 has a 4GB filesize limit.
Laura Crash Lander answered the question correctly but also have a look at
this site for more info:
