Converting project...

No, I'm not asking about how to convert it into a recognisable video file,
but if any one knows how to convert the actual p.r.o.j.e.c.t. (the .mswmm
file) into an .stu project, because I like the user - friendly interface of
wmm best of all movie editors I've seen, but I would prefer to use Pinnacle
to convert the project because it can export a better resolution, which I
work so hard to preserve when converting my files at the beginning.
I have a sizable library of .mswmm projects, and have found Pinnacle to be a
pain in the butt to use in the actual sycronization and editing steps. But,
as I said, I prefer its conversion options.
Or is there a plugin for wmm that will allow more export settings?
Or do I need to grit my teeth and hammer away at Pinnacle?
Thanks!

This is very difficult. Perhaps you can open up the project file in
notepad and extract the xml code in it discarding rest of the binary
data... After that you need to figure out how to map the various fields
to corresponding ones in stu file format...

On the other hand why not just use WMM to produce high resolution output
(use 1024x768 profile from papajohn) and make your DVD using that. It
produces much better results.

I just ended up staying at the mpeg level; there is no loss in quality and it
takes about a quarter of the time to author a new file, compared with the avi
process of converting from mpg to avi, editing, saving and then reconverting
and writing.
I highly recommend it, though the price of and knowledge required by quality
mpeg authoring software may be prohibitive to beginners or hobbyists.
