Yes, I use Audacity and it works great, however, in
addition to the Audacity download you must also download
(from the same site) the LAME_ENC.dll file. Once you
have both, just fire up Audacity; open an audio file;
then do a "save as mp3" -- the FIRST time you do this,
you will need to tell Audacity where the LAME dll is
located -- from that point on Audacity will automatically
convert to MP3.
