I am trying to copy and paste a table from a web site to
an Excel file. No problems copying and pasting. However,
when I try to sort the data, it does not sort properly.
For some reason, the numbers are not recognized properly.
For instance, if I have the following numbers, 1, 9, 10,
11, 6 and I try to sort it in an ascending order, I get
the following result: 1, 10, 11, 6, 9, instead of 1, 6,
9, 10, 11. I know it has to with the numbers not being
recognized as numbers or something like that. I have
tried pasting it as values and that did not help.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

Hi

Copy a blank unused cell. Select the range of 'numbers' and then Edit /
Paste Special / Add. This will coerce them into Excel numbers

Hi
try:
- select an empty cell and copy this cell
- select your imported data
- goto 'Edit - Paste Special' and choose 'Add'

now sort again

Thanks for the quick suggestions. I tried this and still
no luck. Same results. Just want make sure I did this
right. I highlighted a cell, copied it, went to the row
of numbers from the website, highlighted them and clicked
paste special and chose add. When I tried to sort again,
I got the same thing. Any other suggestions?
