Can Windows Media Player convert files from .mp3 to .wav
file formats? If not, is there a preferred software for
doing so?

Converting files from .mp3 to .wav will DOWNGRADE the quality considerably,
since a .wav file is the BEST quality you can have, being the raw digital
image of the music. When a .wav file is converted to .mp3, it suffers in
the conversion, being a downgrade of the .wav. Converting this converted
..mp3 back into a .wav will only take the DOWNGRADED file and DOWNGRADE it
further.

Wrong, wrong, very wrong!

Donald, you're dead wrong! Converting from WAV to MP3 does not degrade a song
it only compresses it.
