Hi All,
The PROBLEM: (GREY VERTICAL BARS and SPLOTCHES after SCANNING document)
SCAN OUTPUT TYPE FILE FORMAT RESULT
------------------------------------------------------------------------
B&W Bitmap PDF Scan with vertical bars & splotches
Spot Color PDF OK
Any Other PDF OK
B&W Bitmap Bitmap OK
------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I select Black & White Bitmap as my OUTPUT TYPE, Do my Scan, and
then save my scan into PDF format I get grey vertical bars on my scan.
Its weird because when I select other OUPTPUT TYPES like SPOT COLOR
(16-COLOR) and save my scan into PDF format my scan does not have these
grey bars or splotches. I prefer converting Black & White Bitmap output
type into PDF format because its easier to manage the document. What I
end up doing is selecting Black & White Bitmap as my OUTPUT TYPE and
saving it into a Bitmap file. It comes out clean but I end Up handling
the document in Microsoft Paint which isnt exactly Acrobat Reader but
it works.
Im using-
---------------------------------------------------------------
HP SCANJET 4400c (with USB Hookup)
HP Precisionscan Pro v3.14
Windows XP Pro
Pentium 1 (166 mhz- old klunker! what can I say, it werx! )
----------------------------------------------------------------
What I have tried so far with NO changes is,
1. Descreening my scan before saving.
2. Cleaning the glass scan surface.
Ive read the following and have some ideas of my own.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Noise filtering through the power source- wallpack unit.
(definite possibility but why are other formats NOT being affected?)
2. Scanner too close to monitor.
(maybe, but why are other formats NOT being affected?)
3. Dust under scanning glass.
(god I hope not!)
4. HP Precisionscan Pro software cannot accurately convert B&W Bitmap
into PDF. (my personal hunch. also my processor isnt MMX capable so
maybe thats got something to do with it? H@ll I dunno!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Im not exactly sure what else there is to do. If you have any ideas or
possible explanations please pass them on.
This ones got me stumped!
TIA
