Cannot get DVD's to play on stand alone recorder/player. I have tried
several different formats and converter software without any
success. What format is needed to play avi on vcr player? What
program should I use to convert it?
Thanks

VCR? I'm guessing you mean DVD player?
Some stand alone DVD players will not
play a home made DVD...there's nothing
you can do about that. But...assuming yours
will play one...you need to create a Video
DVD...not a Data DVD.
Possible authoring software choices may
be...Nero, Roxio, Ulead, WinDVD, ProShow
Gold...etc....
The main thing is that your choice of authoring
software is compatible with .avi files.
Good luck...
