Folks:

I am looking for software/techniques that can convert audio to text.

I am running some educational video using Windows Media Player (WMP).
The process of stopping & rewinding to type notes is rather inefficient.
I would prefer to just convert the audio to text then edit this text.

Would be good if WMP has this audio to text conversion feature built in.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Cheers,
Jo.

Unfortunately this method of transcription is unreliable at best. Homonyms
are always a problem and words the engine doesn't recognise will be guessed
at. Voice recognition is decreasingly accurate when it hasn't been
trained for a particular voice, and when the voice hasn't been trained for
voice recognition. Any sort of accents can thoroughly confuse the
rendering.

After the rendering, you're going to have to go through text and audio again
to figure out how to correct the mistranslations.

Many transcriptionists use a combination of an audio player, such as Gear
Player or Express Scribe, and a USB or serial footpedal. The footpedal
lets you speed up, slow down, and go back and forward without taking your
hands off the keyboard.

Speech to text is very user specific and requires some user training.
That said, there are various softwares out there, so go google "speech
to text"
