Converting administrator to user

The Seabat

I have a computer that just has one account, the main administrator,
as the only user. The computer boots up without asking for a password
or anything. I would like to make this a Limited User account and
retain all the settings and then create a main Administrator account.
How would I go about this and maintain the settings with the current
single user? I also want the Limited User to have to log in each and
every time. Thank you.

It is bad practice to use the built-in Administrator account for
everyday use. It is for an emergency fallback only. So:

1. Create a new user account for yourself. If you have been using the
built-in Administrator account and would like to keep your settings and
data, copy it according to the following link.

Notes:

a. If there really are only two accounts on the system, you will need to
create a third account from which to work since you can't be logged
into the account from which you want to copy or to which you want to
copy. It certainly won't hurt to have the extra account with
administrative privileges in case the built-in Administrator account
ever becomes corrupt.

b. You will need to log into the new user account once before you can
copy anything to it.

2. Once you have everything the way you want it, you can make your
regular user account Limited. See this link for how to make the
