Just double-click to open them in Word. Provided the necessary converters
are installed, Word will open them. If not, you may need to rerun Setup to
install the necessary converters. If the WP docs were created in a version
of WP newer than your version of Word, you may be unable to open them.

Word/Office Setup. Go to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. Choose Change
and select Word or Office. Insert the CD when prompted and choose Add/Remove
Components, Add or Remove Features, or whatever the wording is for your
specific version. Then, depending on version, check the appropriate boxes
for the desired converters or change the icon to "Run from my computer."

See Suzanne's reply at 02.44 BST. You have not said how you bought Word ie
whether it was part of an Office version or Works or stand-alone, so you
need to pick the version of Word/Office that you have from the list then
select the option to change it. Suzanne has detailed the rest of the
procedure.
