I am creating a PPP for a High School Athletic Banquet that will be
approximately 3 GB when completed. I am using Office XP Professional,
Version 2002. What will be the easiest, cheapest way to convert the PPP to a
DVD while still maintaining a high quality? We are on a limited budget and
can not afford to spend a lot on software. I consider myself to be an
average computer user so the simpler the better although I can call in
reinforcements if necessary!
Thanks in advance.

First, 3GB OMG! You can probably reduce that presentation by about 90% and
still not be able to discern any resolution change on the screen. I'm
guessing that you have probably inserted all your pictures at the highest
resolution available so "it will look sharp on the screen". However, the
projection screen resolution is limited to 1024 x 768 (in most cases).
Regardless of how many pixels the picture throws at PowerPoint, only
1024x768 make it to the screen. Sure, some high def, wide screens go out to
1400 or more, but for a HS banquet, I doubt you can afford to rent these
high end devices. Read these links to find out how to get this beast under
control.

2nd, DVD and TV picture quality (resolution) is much less than computer
screen resolution. When you convert any presentation for use on a TV expect
resolution loss. Most TV resolution is only about 700 pixels across so
images that look sharp on the computer may not on TV.

3rd conversion tools, there are several. Here is a link to a page with
many. My preference is either Camtasia or OfficeFX, both have done
everything I have asked of them with a high quality end product.

I hope the kids understand the work you are putting into this and are

First:
What is the cheapes and easiest software?
First tell you the market of the PowerPoint to DVD software:

Above is the software market analysis from an expert in PPT2DVD field.
you can see the cheapest product is PPT TO Video Scout 1.22
,which is only $49 ,bu t its download amount is only 1,441 ,compared with
the second cheap one PPT2DVD 103,512.

If you need to convert your ppt to video without maintain the powerpoint
slide by slide control function and some animations, you can buy PPT TO Video
Scout ,its company is www.softpedia.com
If you want hight quality video and audio with background music and
transitions to a DVD. you may buy PPT2DVD.

5. convert your presentation to a video file
6. burn the converted presentation file to a dvd with a dvd burner.

Some important things, make sure the dvd and the dvd player are compatible.

About the animation and music
This program supports the conversion of most transitions, text animations,
graphics animations in PowerPoint Music can also be well preserved in sync
with the slides.

For your PPT is 3GB, it may take a long time to convertion, so please be
patient.

Is there any possibility that you can do the show from a computer attached
to either a TV or projector? If so, no need to convert to a DVD. Just use
a laptop (or move a desktop into the area where the projector/TV (laptop may
have S-video output as one of mine does) will be located) and show it from
the computer as a timed Kiosk show. Can be looped to continually run.

If you have Windows XP, another way would be to create the show, save it as
..jpg (File, Save As, select .jpg, save all slides.) Once done, import all
the images into Photo Story 3 for Windows which can be downloaded here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx.
Insert music, etc in the program. Create a video file. Use the video file
to create the DVD in Nero, Roxio's Easy DVD or the like cheap software.

What is the cheapes and easiest software?

But please consider, that the cheapest is not always the best ... I prefer
working with Camtasia Studio.

Best regards,
Ute

Dear :
Is that your opinion to a friend?
Camtasia studio is SO expensive for its powerful to convert almost all the
video formats to other formats. It is a good software, I agree.

But ,is it your suggestion to a friend when your friend only need 1%
function of so expensive software?
I think you won't do that if this sir is your friend.

And ,what's more. What he need is to burn his presentation to DVD . Camtasia
can only convert his presentation to video. It can not maintain the
transitions and animations and can not use a dvd remote to control the slide
by slide alter,such as
"page up" "page down" "step up:" "step down"

Only some particular tool can do this. The most famous is PPT2DVD
You need buy the particular tool for your particular software with a proper
price, without wasting money on other unwanted functions.
