Server is a Compaq ML with 1 SCSI 9GB HD (SCSI ID 0) partition1 is 39MB EISA
FAT partition, partition2 is 3GB NTFS C drive (system partition) and
partition 3 is remainder NTFS D drive.

Added a new 36 GB SCSI (SCSI ID 1) and upgraded that to Dynamic.

Idea is to upgrade disk 0 to dynamic to mirror C and D partitions and use
the remainder for other items.

Problem, after upgrading the disk to dynamic, the Disk Management in
Computer Management, it keeps showing Connecting to Logical Disk Management
Service and never loads.

I previously installed the dmdiag.exe tool, and I do not like the output at
all.

Here is the drives before converting:

---------- dosdev ----------

A: = \Device\Floppy0 [Removable]
C: = \Device\HarddiskVolume2 [Fixed]
D: = \Device\HarddiskVolume3 [Fixed]
E: = \Device\CdRom0 [CDRom]
F: = \Device\LanmanRedirector\;F:1\terminal\d$ [Remote]

---------- \Device\Harddisk0 ----------

\Device\Harddisk0\DP(1)0x7e00-0x2730c00+2 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk0\DP(2)0x2738a00-0xbbc57e00+3 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk0\DP(3)0xbe398600-0x160021e00+4 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk0\DR0 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk0\Partition0 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\Harddisk0\DR0
\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\HarddiskVolume1
\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\HarddiskVolume2
\Device\Harddisk0\Partition3 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\HarddiskVolume3

---------- \Device\Harddisk1 ----------

\Device\Harddisk1\DP(1)0x7e00-0x7d0400+5 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk1\DR1 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk1\Partition0 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\Harddisk1\DR1
\Device\Harddisk1\Partition1 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\HarddiskVolume4

Here is the drives after upgrading Drive 0 to Dynamic:

---------- dosdev ----------

A: = \Device\Floppy0 [Removable]
C: = \Device\HarddiskDmVolumes\WebDg0\Volume1 [Fixed]
D: = \Device\HarddiskDmVolumes\WebDg0\Volume2 [Fixed]
E: = \Device\CdRom0 [CDRom]
F: = \Device\LanmanRedirector\;F:1\terminal\d$ [Remote]

---------- \Device\Harddisk0 ----------

\Device\Harddisk0\DP(1)0x7e00-0x2730c00+2 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk0\DP(2)0x2738a00-0xbbc57e00+3 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk0\DP(3)0xbe398600-0x160021e00+4 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk0\DR0 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk0\Partition0 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\Harddisk0\DR0
\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\HarddiskVolume1
\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2 (SymbolicLink) ->
\Device\HarddiskDmVolumes\WebDg0\Volume1
\Device\Harddisk0\Partition3 (SymbolicLink) ->
\Device\HarddiskDmVolumes\WebDg0\Volume2

---------- \Device\Harddisk1 ----------

\Device\Harddisk1\DP(1)0x7e00-0x7d0400+5 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk1\DP(2)0x7d8200-0x879e99400+6 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk1\DR1 (Device)
\Device\Harddisk1\Partition0 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\Harddisk1\DR1
\Device\Harddisk1\Partition1 (SymbolicLink) -> \Device\HarddiskVolume2

Notice on partition 2 & 3 of Disk 0 there is an extra step in the path. I do
not like this. I have a bad feeling.

Can some one help on this, as I am afraid to restart this server. (This
server is in Toronto and I am in California.)

You probably have a services that is hanging. Check the Status column for
services and look for something under than blank or "Started."
