I am trying to convert a table Access 97, that is linked
to an Excel file. In the conversion process I get an error
message that gives the table name followed by a $ sign. My
guess is that the $ sign is indicating the link to the
Excel File. At this point it stops the process of
conversion. This table is very important to daily
operating proceedures and we are trying to preserve it in
tact. My hope is that someone out there has encounteresd
this problem and has a solution. HELP??

If it's just a linked spreadsheet, it does not actually exist in your
database - all that is in Access is the link.

You might want to consider making a copy of your A97 database; delete
the link; upgrade the database, and use File... Get External Data...
Link to reconnect to the Excel file.
