my ? is this :
I have a lap top ....95 windows edition is on it.... the
cd drive is down, but my floppy works. i need to convert
my xp back up files to disk format ...is this possible;
and if so how can i do it without compromising my current
system on my home computer?

It is 'possible', but you'd need a boat load of floppies. And even at that,
some of the files are too large for a floppy disk and would need to be split
with a splitting program. I take it you want to put all the install files
for XP on floppy, put them on the hard drive and install from there?

I would try copying the I386 directory from the CD on another computer with
a working CD, and transferring to the Laptop via a direct network connection
via serial cable, NIC, or parallel cable. Or even with an external Zip
drive.
