Converter for Powerpoint

Has anyone built a true converter to go between PowerPoint and HTML. Currently powerpoint will export as XML but no true HTML. There are numerous advertised converters but they all just take a screen shot of the powerpoint slide and embed that in an HTML page..
 
What version of PowerPoint do you have. versions 2002 and 2003 do a good job with this. The only down side is adding cool featers backgrounds, animation, pictures and sound makes your presentation huge. You can also just put your PPT or PPS file on your site with a link to them however the user must have PowerPoint or the view on there computer.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "true converter".
Since HTML won't do a fraction of what PPT is capable of, a true converter isn't possible.

What's the desired end goal?
