I am not even sure how to ask my question!

We have been going through a lot of changes at work... I tend to be on a
different network computer every other day... so I'm always having to map
drives, etc to work on one project or another...

Today, after mapping my drive, etc - I went to open up a file. It wouldn't
let me, so I browsed through, chose the program I needed and all of that fun
stuff... except that I had chosen a different file than I realized... and
have now converted a HUGE project in PowerPoint... over to Excel. Along with
EVERY other PP file in my "I" drive.

HELP! Please! Does anyone know anything that I can do?

I have everything saved on Microsoft Office Live as well... but when I go to
open it from there - you guessed it, it's trying to open it in Excel as well.

I am trying NOT to have a heart attack! Any help will be greatly
appreciated!!!

This sounds as though you have changed the file association so it opens in
excel not PPT. try right-clicking on a file and 'open with' PPT. If that
works you can then change the file association.

Good luck

It sounds more like your presentations are opening in Excel by default. Try
the following:
1. Start PowerPoint from Windows Start menu.
2. Select "File" | "Open..." menu item if you are using PowerPoint 2003 or
previous versions.
or select "Office" button | "Open" item.
3. Locate and select your presentation file and click "Open" button.

See if this opens your presentation file in PowerPoint properly.

If you are able to open your presentation file properly in PowerPoint, then
do the following:
1. Ensure that PowerPoint is not running.
2. Right-click on a presentation file and select "Open with..." menu item.
3. Locate and select "Microsoft Office PowerPoint" item.
4. Check "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box.
5. Click OK button.
From now on, your presentation files should open in PowerPoint when you
click on them.

- Chirag

PowerShow - View multiple PowerPoint slide shows simultaneously

Once you follow the suggestions of the other posters to get back on track,
contact your network administrator to have them create roving a profile for
your account and the accounts of others that move around a lot. That way
when you go from one computer to another your desktop and network settings
will follow you when you log in with your username and password. Relatively
easy to set up on any domain server network.

Said roving meant roaming profiles.
