I would like to take a word doc created from the powerpoint "send to
word function" (handout view if it makes a dif) and convert it back to
powerpoint. The send to ppt function in word doesn't do it (I guess
since the word doc isn't in an outline form) nor does the import from
word outline. I have winxp and office xp if it makes a dif

You're correct, the Word document would need to be in outline form.

You might try saving the Word doc as HTML and then opening the HTML file
in PPT...

Thanks. I got ya in both places :0) It should be a simple task, but may
need a third program. See you could manually cut the slide portion from
word and paste it to powerpoint, then resize it to fit the slide. Is
there a way to get a macro to do this? I know I could use a macro to do
all the resizing after the slides are in ppt. I was hoping there ws a
way to get a macro (or some script) to do the copy/pastye between
programs, perhaps even after eliminating the slide numer and thhe notes
column in the word doc.

What exactly is it you need to do, Ron? Get the images of the slides
back into PPT or something?

Yes, I want to recreate the ppt from the word doc. (actually for me it
would be create as I don't have the opriginal ppt. I just figured out I
can click on each individual slide and choose "open" under presentation
object and it will open as a ppt slide that I can save as a ppt complete
with the notes from the original ppt. There should be a way to go
through the whole word doc automatically and put all the slides back
into one ppt.

Well, if there is, I sure don't know *what* it is, heh. I think you're
probably stuck with the one-at-a-time approach, sorry.

Thanks. There has got to be a scripting language which can automate this
kind of thing (but I'm only guessing).
Cheers

Probably. Maybe. But I think you'd have to do it from the Word end. You
might ask in the Word groups.

Sure. VBA. It's built into both PowerPoint and Word.
Press Alt+F11 to get into the VBA editor in either app.

Now all you gotta do is learn how to do 'er. ;-)
