How do I copy the audio portion from a wmv file to a wav file? In other
words, how do I get a file with just the audio from an audio/video file?

In Windows Movie Maker....
To save only the audio track of a video clip...
drag the video to the "Audio/Music" track.
Then go to...File / Save Movie File / ect...ect......

This will result in a .wma audio file. Be sure
to drag the clip all the way to the left on the
timeline or you will have dead air at the
beginning.

I think I need it saved as a wav file as I want to load it to my Blackberry
as a ringtone. Blackberry won't accept any kind of email attachments in video
form. You won't get the option to "open attachment" when you click the track
wheel in an open message with such an attachment. It will accept wav files
and I have already found a way to get ringtones onto my Blackberry from my PC
rather than a website.

Is there a similar way to what you suggested that will get an audio clip of
a minute in the middle of the video (very long video - 1 hour) in .wav format?

Thank you.

Also, Windows Movie Maker will only save the first 24 clips of what I
described as a long video. I only need a specific piece of audio from further
along in the video. Is there a way to tell it to start its import video at a
later and specific place in the video? If I can, it will contain the audio
clip I want and if I can get it in wav format, I will be good to go.

Maybe you could just play the file and use
Windows Sound Recorder to record the
portion you need. It will save it in the .wav
format.

Start / All programs / Accessories /
Entertainment / Sound Recorder..
