Hi all
Is there a way how to hack a file which is in an ASX format to convert it to
a WMV file for me to keep? I know that asx files are only read files that
direct you to the place where you can stream them. The asx file I have has
only like 4 kbs so I know that I don't have the full length video, but would
like to have it so that I can copy it on a dvd disk. Is this possible to do.
PLEASE help.
Thanks
Lisa

An ASX is a short text file that has a pointer to a WMV file. You don't

convert the ASX, you get the WMV file that the ASX points to.

Do you know how to?
Thanks

I'm not sure whether running the ASX file downloads the WMV file to you
internet cache. Worth having a look.

I found out recently in a.c.f. that .ASX files are only header files
which refer to .WMV files located either with the .ASX file or even
a different location. I also use .ASX files for proper sequential
viewing of my .WMV files made from DVD .vob files.

Open the asx file in notepad. It could/should contain a link for the wmv
file, which can be downloaded by a program like Net Transport 1.87.

I get the feeling the file was once part of a Yahoo public Briefcase
but no longer exists.

Thank you!! I will give it a try

Hello Onno Voors
I can't open anything related to Net Transport 1.87.
By any chance you have that program and would want to share it with me?
Please let me know to send you my right e address.
Thanks

Also look for some program called 'SDP Downloader'. It will work with
the mms protocol. I use it frequently.

Thanks for suggesting the other program. I have been trying to get the Net
Transport, but I am encountering problems opening the page.

Thank you! I was having problems opening each page from the Google search
engine that contained the file. Internet Explorer wouldn't open the page. I
was getting error message: page can not be displayed.
I will give a try to both links and I will let you know what happens.

ASX is not an actual video or audio format, but just an xml file, that points to an ASF video file or WMA audio file.

Just google search Step by Step Guide on How to Convert ASX to WMV, AVI, MP4, MP3, WMA

You will find as many software and step by step guide how to convert asx files to wmv
