Convert pop3 to imap

Outlook 2003, I have a pop3 account, is there any way to convert it to use
Imap, keeping all my existing settings, or do I have to create a new account?

If converting keeping the existing pst file, what would be the steps involved?
 
This isn't a client site solution. Contact your ISP if they support IMAP and
what the serversettings are.

Perhaps I didn't explain correctly. I already have a pop3 account on my
local machine which I have used for several years. I know the ISP supports
IMAP, I have my own dedicated server there and supply the software for it.

This isn't a client site solution. Contact your ISP if they support IMAP and
what the serversettings are.

These are separate ways to access the same mailbox. Configure the IMAP
account and subscribe to the folders you want acces to. IMAP uses its own
folderset so if you want to store the old messages on the server too you'll
have to move the messages from the POP3 pst-file to the IMAP folderset.
