Is there any freeware that will convert a pdf document I've downloaded
into my hard drive into a Word document? I would like to edit the
document & then fax it from my PC. Thanks.

Ask the writer of the orginal document if you can and he/she may already
have it in a word format... Don't forget copyright

Very simple :-
Just select all > copy > paste.

That's not always possible.
But then again, if it is blocked, it probably is for a good reason
(copyright).

By the way, it might just be (if it is a form) it has input fields so you
can enter information on the sheet itself. (Using acrobat reader)

Of course, that leaves out any graphics in the document. You can,
however, sort of get them by doing printscreens and then pasting the
images into something like PhotoFiltre for editing, then put them in
the new document. I've done this drill in the past.
