I want to install a USB card for downloading DV movies to my pc from my
video cam. My cam has a USB cable for downloading movies. I assume it's USB
2.0.

What type of Hardware do I need to buy to accomplish this?
Possible Cost?

My kids want to make there own movies and burn them on CD's.

Here's the pc system info:

Compaq Presario
Windows XP Pro - All Updates as of 9/15/2005
Pentium 3 - 933 MHz
512 RAM
CD-RW
60 Gig Hard Drive

Thanks in advance,

Jack - soon to be Tech Dad

A firewire card will cost you about $15 to $25 or so....and you can get
combo USB2.0/firewire cards

If you've got XP with SP2, it has the drivers included, so all you should
have to do is turn the PC off, insert the PCI card, turn the PC on and XP
should do all the rest by itself.

Some cards have a firewire cable included..... If the firewire port on the
digital camcorder is very small, it's a 4 pin 'end'. On the card, it's
usually a 6 pin 'end', so you'll need a cable which is 4 pin to 6 pin.
(Very common)

Hey Cari,

Thanks for all your help.
I will let you know how I make out.
My kids are going to be very excited when I get this done.
