I need to share my OL 2003 contacts list with folks that have OL 2000. I
have found that if I export to a .pst file, they can not import it. I
have been exporting to an Excel file, which they can import. The problem
is that the distribution lists get lost in that process. Is there any
converter for OL 2003 contact lists that will allow them to be read with
distribution lists by OL 2000?

No, but since exporting is such a poor way to transfer data anyway, just
create a new PST file in the old format and copy your data into it.

I want to transfer the data to another person's computer. Are you
implying that I or they should sit down at that computer and re-key in
all the data? That seems like a poor way to transfer data. Before this
hassle, I used partial .pst files to transfer contact lists and it
worked just fine.
If there is a simpler way to do what you suggest, I would like to know,
but it appears to me that the scenario above is what you are suggesting.

Of course not. That was not what I was suggesting at all.
I'll give you the step by step:
1. File > New > Outlook Data File... > Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders file
2. Give this new PST file a name and location you will remember. This new
file will now appear in your Folder List.
3. Copy the data you want to transfer from your current PST into this new
one. Close Outlook.
4. Copy this PST file and give it to your Outlook 2000 users. They will be
able to open it (File > Open > Personal Folders file) and copy whatever data
they want from it.

This method has always been the preferred method for transferring Outlook
data because it simpler and far more reliable that exporting.

You learn something new every day. Outlook has so many features that
it's hard to be aware of all of them.
