Convert Numbers to Text

I know how to convert numbers to text but I have thousands
of entries to convert (in the same column). After I
select the column and go to Format cells and select Text;
I do not want to go to each cell and press F2 then hit
Enter.

Is there a way to mass conversion? A Macro or programming?
Any help appreciated. Thanks.
 
Copy an empty cell, select the numbers, do edit>paste special and select add

The OP requested numbers to text. You've given text to numbers!!

Oops!

Though it should be easier to just format the range as text? Or just select
the column and do data>text to columns next twice and select text under
column data format, then finish.
