convert music to mp3 using media player no.9

Hi,im a relativly newcomer to this, but i was wondering
if it is possible to change the format of the music on my
laptop (running Windows XP Home) to MP3 using my Windows
Media Player 9......or do i have to download a different
programme?

I'm not sure what you mean by "change the format." If you want to pull
music from a CD onto your harddrive as mp3 files, your best bet is the
freeware ripper CDex: http://www.cdex.n3.net/ which will also convert wav
files to mp3, if that's what you meant. I've always had WMP installed but
I've never used it for either of those purposes and to be honest I don't
know whether or not it does them- I've just always had such easy and
high-quality results with CDex that I've never bothered to find out.
