I'm trying to convert my powerpoint photo slides to HTML so internet explore can run it. The PowerPoint menu for conversion is easy enough.... But the pictures look so terrible in any HTMO browser, the conversion is useless. What can I do to make the pictures look as good in HTML as they do in powerpoint? I'm using PowerPoint X for Mac.

Francis,

You may have more joy in the Mac newsgroup, I'm afraid:

Generally, when I do a simple conversion from my power point presentation to HTML pages, any and all browsers, PC or Mac, sees a degraded picture. The quality of the pictures are important in this case, but they look like they have been compressed too much -- there is little detail left.

Why does power point do this? Is there a way to make power point retain the quality of the pictures when making an HTML page? I'm using PowerPoint X for the Mac. I could use another computer, platform, or power point version. Would it make a difference if I did?
THANKS for your help
Francis

Francis,

There is an option in PowerPoint for PC [ Save as web page| Publish| Web
options| Pictures] to change the target resolution. I imagine, although
haven't tried, that you could target a higher resolution. That should beef
up your images. As long as you then resize them later so they fit smaller
screens. Worth a look at, I think. Maybe Mac's have that option as well?

Glen, thank you for your reply.
Why would Powerpoint automatically assume you wanted the "target resolution" less (much less) than the original slide?

No, the Mac version does not have an option to change the target resolution. Why not? It would seem that folks on the Mac would be especially interested in having quality images.
