In the Access application environment, Screen Tips are working fine, but when
i set ControlTips in my own forms, i get nothing. Is there a seperate
setting to enable ControlTips?

Thanks for the reference Ken, but unfortunately, my problem is not related to
the metioned article.

None of the controls i place on a form invoke a ControlTipText response,
whether framed by another control, or not, with the focus, or without.

I've been setting the ControlTipText property by simply typing text into the
property box. I've tried using an equal sign, surrounding with double
quotes...nothing's worked yet.

By the way, im using MS Office 2000 Developer and XP Home.

thanks in advance :)

When you type directly in the Control Tip Text box in Properties window when
form is in design view, just type the text with no " or = characters. For
example, if I want the control tip text to be "This is my control.", I would
type this into the box:
This is my control.

Should work if you let the cursor sit over the control for more than one
second.

I tried it that way too, sorry i didnt make that clear. Thats why i was
thinking maybe there is a setting somewhere to enable ControlTips. I've
tried setting the property as follows:

This is a text box.
"This is a text box."
="This is a text box."
=This is a text box.

Seems like such a simple thing, displaying a tooltip, lol. No luck yet.

I must admit that I have not had a situation where the control tip won't
show after making sure that the "Bring to Front" is set for the control.

If you'd like to zip up your database and email to me (remove this is not
real from my reply emai address), I'll see if it works on my PC. Be sure to
identify the specific form and control that I should test.

Your control tips are working on my PC just fine. I put the mouse cursor
over top of the control, wait one second, and the tip text appears.

Have you got the current updates/patches installed on your PC for your
ACCESS 2000 version? You will need SP3 for Office 2000; there may be an
additional patch/upgrade or two for the Developer version as well. Go to
Office Update site and verify that you're up to date.

Other than that, try repairing your ACCESS installation.
