Controlling share creation?

Has anyone come across a way to control users creating shares thru GPO? Some
of our applications need users to be local admins on their XP machine, so
that is the way we have configured them. Is there a way to give users of a
machine admin, but take away share creation?

Hello L.

Because the users are local administrators, they will always have the
ability to create shares. There is no means to prevent this.

Shares can be created by members of the administrators, power users, and
server operators groups.

Even if you disable the "File and Printer sharing" option on the clients,
because they are administrators, they could easily reinstall it.
