I was wanting to know if it's possible, via software or BIOS, to
increase/decrease the speed of my HSF.

I would like to bump it up about 500rpm more.

Appreciate all your help people.

Not possible. You can, if you REPLACE it. Cooler Master makes some nice
HSF with variable speed fan adjusters that mount in a external 3.5"

Some motherboards give option to decrese speed to reduce noise, (eg. AMD
Cool & Quiet) but you cannot increase speed if fan is on 12V. You need to
buy a better HS & Fan. If you don't mind more noise, you can fit a faster
fan to your HS. If you have a 60mm fan, you can fit an adapter to allow you
to fit an 80mm fan, which will move more air.
Mike.

My motherboard is ASUS A8S-X, and I have the stock HSF when I bought
my AMD 64 cpu.

I have no clue what make/model this fan is, any hints?

thanks,

Download and install Speedfan. What are your CPU temps, idle and
underload.? I have Athlon64 3700, runs at 40C with Cool & Quiet at 50% speed
when idle with stock cooler, goes to about 57C when loaded and 7%
overclocked. Needs to reach about 75C before you worry.

Its a AMD Venice 64bit 3200+

And you say not to worry until 75C?
Where did you come by/read that ?

thanks.

SO, I am worried.
What is system temp? If your system case has poor aieflow it will cause
CPU to run hotter. On idle, my CPU is approx 18C warmer than system. Might
be worth removing HS, clean off thermal grease, re-applyand refit HS. What
speed is your CPU fan?
Mike.

What is system temp?
System and CPU temps go around 40-41C..They seem to match, not all the
time, the 40-41C temps.

Is this bad?

40C is fine for CPU and system temps.
