This might seem like a stupid question:

Is it possible to slow down a hard disc? I don't mean with DMA/PIO
mode changing, the physical speed at which the disk is spun. I have a
_very_ noisy drive in my laptop, and I'd prefer to have a quieter
drive for a drop in performance.

Thanks

Matt

Are you sure it's not a fan ?

If the disk is making noise I'd consider replacing it. At least
do good backups.
