Hello. We have a local net of XP machines. One is on the internet,
using a second ethernet card.

How can I control things so that the machines on the local net don't
connect to the internet via the one that is on the internet?

Thanks in advance for any help..

First, make sure your dual NIC machine isn't running ICS.
Second, pick 192.168.*.* IP numbers for your local machines. This
range of addresses will not route on the internet.

The best solution is to buy a router. Most routers have configurable
filters which can be set to allow or disallow access to internet by
individual computers. It would then give you the instant flexibility
to choose which machines connect at any one time.

HTH,
John
