I seem to be having a problem with my DVD/CD RW and I am not quite sure what
to do about it. It fails to burn and only occasionally is able to read cds.

Used the properties on the device manager to look for an update for this
DVD/CD RW device and it tells me that I have the latest driver.

However according to the event log I am throwing dozens of warnings and even
more errors.
The error data is non specific it just tells me that I have a controller
error. Can anyone advise on this?

Running:
Windows Vista Business
4 gigs ram
256mb nvidia vid card
3 gighertz intel on a Gigabit mobo

Hi,

Turn the machine off and disconnect the power. Open the case, ground
yourself, and reseat both ends of the controller cable. The intermittency
indicates you may have a loose connection.
