Controller erorr

I keep getting the error message 'The driver detected a controller error on
\Device\Harddisk0\D' in the event viewer. This is slightly confusing,
because D is the drive letter for my DVD ROM unit, so I don't know whether
this error message actually refers to my hard disk or not. What can I do
about this?

That error is referring to your hard drive (harddisk0) Download and run the
drive mfg's diagnostic utility to determine if the drive is going bad.

The message is truncated, if not truncated it would read something like
this: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\DR0

I'm guessing that this is an Event ID: 11 from Disk source, it could be
caused by a several different things, bad cables are often at fault.
