I used to have a search key set up for all my forms. I would hold the
control key and press the \ key and it would automatically advance to the
\ character within the forms so that they could fill in the blanks. I have
a new computer and for some reason, can't for the life of me get it to work
right. Finally I've thrown up my hands and decided to ask for HELP!!

I should also mention that they would like everyone in the office to be able
to perform the same function when using the forms file. So would I have to
set this up on each computer?

Thanks much for any assistance.

In an unprotected "form," built for example with MACROBUTTON fields, you can
use F11 (and Shift+F11) to move between fields.

In a true, protected form, you can use the Tab key to move between fields.
(Ctrl+\ was probably a custom shortcut on your previous system.)

It was set up by a prior employee and everyone loved it. I am not a macro
expert so I'm not sure if I could make it work. And ease of use is always a
common request. I would protect the form after it was set up to be used by
anyone.

It's hard to give you any more specific advice without knowing what kind of
form we are talking about.

If you try F11 or Tab, does either of them work?

For what it's worth, MACROBUTTON fields don't require macros; they can be
used simply as placeholders. If this is the way your form was set up, F11
should work fine. You can use the Customize Keyboard dialog box to assign
Ctrl+\ to the NextField command, if you want to.
