Is it possible to make stock controls like Label use a transparent
background?

I m not sure, but i think by overriding CreateParams u should be able to do
that....
there was one parameter which was dealing with this transparencey
thing...just check that. may be that helps.

Good link...

Question: I did get this to work without subclassing anything by fiddling
with the Transparent color and the display format of the label but this is
really inconsistent. Sometimes that works other times it doesn't.
