MS could corner it's own market if it could develop a decent Flight-control
HID.
Features could include:
CONTROL:
3-axis joystick; (more accurate + force-feedback)
2x front trigger buttons; one acts as 'shift' or other function
4x thumb buttons & 8way Hat switch;
4-8x 3pos switches; flightsim (cockpit switches),
FPS (weapons, maps, inventory, etc)
encoder wheel; FPS (zoom (map, weapon, view))
FlightSim (fuel mixture, or other assigned)
THROTTLE:
T-handle throttle w/ indents; (sidebody- friction/indent control screw)
Flightsim (Rev Thrust, 5% inc/dec, afterburner)
FPS (Weapon choice, speed, etc)
thumb-joystick;
scroll wheels (l-r + u-d); FlightSim (trim control)
FPS (view, menu/inventory control)
2x trigger buttons;
switch to reverse polarity on joystick movement;
FlightSim (A/C throttle vs Helo collective)
I'm sure the R&D Dept can improve on these simple suggestions...
