A student machine in a classroom using Server 2003 Ent Edition, 180 day
cannot see his Control Panel. He has checked the domain policy (he is on a
domain controller) and the Administrative Template settings for Control Panel
are not enabled. Other students can still see theirs. What can be done to get
the Control Panel back?

Tell him to run the Resultant Set of Policy mmc snapin for his domain
controller. It will display exactly what Group Policy settings are being
applied to it and from what Group Policy. Then he can modify settings if he
found that Group Policy is hiding control panel. The support tool gpresult
will also quickly tell what Group Policies are being applied to the
computer. Make sure he checks local Group Policy via gpedit.msc. He can also
use .cpl files directly to access control panel modules. --- Steve
